Charles Ward TD — Standing with Donegal Families in the Fight for Justice

Party News

I am Charles Ward, Teachta Dála for Donegal and leader of the 100% Redress Party. Elected in 2024, my focus has been on representing families affected by defective concrete and working on the issues that matter most to communities across Donegal.

Living in Drumkeen with my wife Angela and our four children, I know first-hand the stress and uncertainty that come from unsafe homes. This personal experience gives me both the authority and the drive to fight for families who have been let down by the system.

Family and community are central to everything I do. Reflections on my father’s guidance remind me daily why home, family, and community matter. I entered politics not to build a career, but because I saw injustice and wanted to do something about it.

Working for Donegal

Over the past year, I have focused on being accessible and active for the people I represent. Speaking in the Dáil on Donegal issues sixty times and raising defective concrete matters thirty-six times has allowed me to bring local concerns directly to national decision-makers. More than one hundred and forty parliamentary questions were submitted, and contributions were made to twenty-one committee sessions. On top of that, over three thousand representations were made on behalf of constituents seeking support or solutions.

Regular meetings in my Ballybofey office every Monday and Friday provide a chance for families and community members to share their concerns directly. This work is not about headlines or recognition. The priority has always been Donegal families, making sure they have a voice where it matters.

Championing defective concrete justice

Working on defective concrete issues has not just been political for me — it has been personal. Meeting families whose homes are unsafe, hearing from parents who wonder whether their children can grow up in the place they should feel safest, made it clear that this is about more than policy papers. It is about people’s lives.

That is why I have pushed consistently on a wide range of issues, including ensuring safety standards are respected and independent oversight is strengthened, addressing financial shortfalls faced by families, highlighting the mental and physical health impacts of prolonged uncertainty, calling for transparency and accountability at every stage, and making sure that exclusions such as in public buildings, apartments or multi-unit developments are reviewed urgently.

These are not abstract issues. They are the things families tell me about every week, from Arranmore to Letterkenny, Malin Head to Buncrana.

A Donegal focus, not a national spotlight

While national coverage follows my work, the focus remains squarely on Donegal. Practical solutions for local families take priority. This includes health services, hospital hubs, cancer care, special education, youth services, infrastructure, transport, and support for carers. Local schools, community initiatives, and organisations like the Donegal ISPCA also remain central to my work.

Participation in committees covering fisheries, housing, autism, children, and equality allows a Donegal perspective to be heard at every stage. Attention is always on tangible improvements, not political headlines.

Being approachable and principled

The 100% Redress Party constituency office in Ballybofey functions as a hub for support, advice, and practical help. Meeting people, listening to their concerns, and taking action has been a priority from day one.

Every day I meet people who have something important to share and I take those stories back to national decision-making tables. That connection between ground-level experience and policy discussion is what politics should be about.

Standing up for justice in Donegal

The commitment is clear: full redress, local solutions, and transparency. Donegal families should have confidence that their concerns are represented with integrity and dedication. Serving the community is not about politics for its own sake, but about making a real difference where people live.

Getting in touch and moving forward together

I welcome contact with everyone in Donegal. You can visit the constituency office in Ballybofey, subscribe to updates on the 100% Redress website, or join the party to volunteer or support our work.

The first year as TD has shown that consistent effort, empathy and a deep connection to community can achieve meaningful change. My commitment is to continue working for Donegal, its families and its future.
